Gingerbread cookies recipe!

There is nothing more satisfying than made-from-scratch cookies! They taste MUCH better and fill you with the Christmas spirit.

Here is what you'll need to get started:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening

  • 3/4 cup sugar

  • 1/4 cup molasses

  • 2 cups flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1.5 tsp baking powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp ground pepper

  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves

  • Frosting

  • Multi colored sprinkles

  • Cookie cutters

  • Parchment Paper

Begin by blending together the sugar and vegetable shortening until fluffy. Afterwards, add eggs, molasses, and vanilla extract. In a separate bowl whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, pepper, ginger, baking powder, cinnamon, and cloves. When blended well ask to the vegetable shortening mix. Chill this substance overnight in the fridge.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper. Roll dough 1/8" thick on a heavy floured surface. Cut with cookie cutters and transfer to the baking sheets. Lightly sprinkle with additional sugar bake for 15-18 minutes. Decorate when you're done and enjoy your home made cookies!
